My Fascination With People Walking Towards Me

I'll admit, I'm a curious person. It may come across as nosy at times, but my curiosity never comes with ill intentions. I've realized that if I'm walking alone -whether it be in the halls at school or on the street in a city, I subconsciously look at any person who is walking my way. I don't know why I do it exactly. Maybe it's to see what type of clothes they're wearing. Maybe it's to see if a girl is hot as she passes me. I just do it (NoNike).

During our orientation in Florence however, we were told that eye contact with strangers is considered rude. So as I walk down the sidewalks, I find myself having to make an effort to keep my head and my eyes straight. The fact that these sidewalks are incredibly narrow doesn't help either. I'm afraid I'm going to walk into someone eventually because I can't look at them to make sure I don't bump into them. Also, the fact that I'm in Italy makes me want to know even more about the people who pass by me. I'm not really sure what the solution is here. I'm a guest in this country and I refuse to be an ignorant American who just stares everyone down. So I guess I'll just have to cut back on the curiosity for now.
